Sponsored Swim
11th Jul 2009
Venue: Warlingham School Sports Centre
Thank you to everyone who took part in the first Lily Foundation Sponsored Swim. It was a fantastic day. At the beginning of the day our aim was to swim the equivalent number of miles as the width of the English Channel. This is 22 miles. We smashed it!!!! Together on July 11th 2009 we swam 58 miles. Well done everyone.
In total 65 swimmers took part, our youngest unaided swimmer was 4. It was infact the children who stole the show. A number of our swimmers aged 10 and under swam 2 miles and the majority managed 1/2 a mile at least. The under 16s clocked up 30 miles between them. It was great to see the children so involved, so dedicated and so passionate about helping the Lily Foundation reach the set target of 22 miles.
The day was a great fun day out for the whole family. We will definitely be doing it again next year.
We hope to raise £2000.00
