The Abseil down Guys Hospital TowerThe month of November saw 35 people agreed to abseil down the Guys Hospital Tower, organised by James Kay, uncle of Ivy Gage. The tower is 34 stories high and stands at 143 meters. None of the 35 participants backed out last minuite, in fact the organisers stated that they had never have so many people in one group abseil forwards before - really why would you want to go down forwards!!!! To date this event has raised £3857.50 - well done James a fantasatic start to your marathon sponsorship! |

Greenacres SchoolThe Lily Foundation was the school PTA's Charity of the Year last year which means they donated 10% of everything they raised to us - a total of £750. The 2011 Virgin London MarathonThank you so much to our Marathon team this year. We had our biggest team to date pound the streets of London, including Dave (Lily's dad) and Jonathan Pearce(Lily's uncle). Joining them were Niall who ran in memory of his little girl Niamh, Jon Gurney, running in memory of Bridie, Mark whose 4 year old daughter Ivy suffers from a Mitohcondrial Disease and Dave whose son Charlie is living with the challenges of the condition. This years marathon was by far our most succesful to date so thank you to everyone of our 25 runners this year. We raised a total of £54,822.54. But we would like to say a special thank you to Camilla Rogers (pictured on the right) who single handedly raised £24,082.20. Well done and thank you to everyone. |

Olivia Wingrove Sponsored Bike RideA huge thank you to Olivia who saw a leaflet about The Lily Foundation and decided that she wanted to do something to help. In her own words she said " "I am 12 years old and I wanted to help a charity, then we got this leaflet at school advertising your charity. So I got a sponser form and got people to sponser me. I got straight on that bike and cycled from Buxted to Uckfield that weekend. I raised as much as I could because I read the story about Lily and I wanted to help." Olivia raised £40. 70. National Friendly hit their £10,000 target for The Lily FoundationA huge thank you to all the staff at National Friendly, who have been raising funds for The Lily Foundation over the past 12 months. The charitys work is close to the heart of National Friendly employees Neil and Debbie Thomspon whose granddaughter Freya (featured in the photo) suffers from the disease. Pool Night in Memory of Christopher Chandler 15/1/11Well done Marilyn and Graham Chandler who organised a pool competition in memory of their son Christopher who died aged 24 of Mitochondrial Disease. The pool competition took place at their local social club and the trophey was won by Duggie (see in the photo wearing a striped top). Duggie was presented the trophy by Christopher's parents. Bridie's Stuchbury's 2nd birthday celebrations 7/1//11Bridie Stutchbury would have celebrated her 2nd birthday on 7/1/11, but Bridie lost her battle to Mitochondrial Disease in April last year. Bridie's family could not let this special day pass without remembering Bridie and celebrating with her. They held a dinner for close friends and family and raised money for The Lily Foundation. £750 was raised in memory of Bridie. Well done to you and thank you.

Major Energy Open, sponsored by TOTAL and Edge Business MediaMany thanks to companies who came together to take part in the Major Energy Open at Hampton Court Palace Golf Club. The day was organised by Shawn Coles, Managing Director of Edge Business Media and sponsored by TOTAL Gas and Power. It was a great day for everyone who took part, it provided a great opportunity to network within the industry, but have fun at the same time. Lands End To John O'Groats Spetember 2010A huge congratulations to Dan, Mike and Chris who have spent 20 days cycling through the wind and rain from Land's End to John O'Groats.Dan, Mike and Chris set themselves a tough challenge not only to cycle 1050 miles, but to raise £25K for the charities that have supported Dan's family over the past two years. Kilimanjaro September 2010It is quite amazing really - The Lily Flag flown at the top of Mount Kiliamanjaro in August and September!! A massive well done to John, Les, Wetsley, Dan, Paul, Robert, Phillip and Tony, for reaching the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. A huge achieivment and effort. The Etape 2010Charlie Whitfield completed the Etape which is the first stage of the Tour De France. The stage this year was in the Pyrenees - and it was 181 kilometers and 4000 meters of vertical gain. Charlie completed this incredible challenge in 10 hours. Well done Charlie and thanks |

The Dartford Half MarathonA huge thank you to the Bridie Bear's Team. The team consisted of 22 runners, all of whom completed the Dartford half marathon in memory of Bridie Stuchbury. Thank you to staff and students at Lewes Old Grammar SchoolThe staff and students of Lewes Old Grammar School took part in a sponsored walk in July 2009 to raise funds for The Lily Foundation and their own school trip to Africa. The weather was not very kind on the day of the walk, but by the time the heavens opened the students had walked 8 miles and most decided to make the trip back too. So a huge thank you to you all. Susie KydSusie is mentioned below for her amazing efforts in raising money for The Lily Foundation by walking 106 miles along the South Coast Path from Exmouth to Poole. Susie raised a staggering £5500 for The Lily Foundation. Susie works for Kiln a Lloyds syndicate and applied for an award for The Lily Foundation given to members of staff of Lloyds for contributions to charity. Whyteleafe Netball ClubWhyteleafe Netball Club hosted an auction night on Saturday 17th October. There aim was to raise funds for their club and The Lily Foundation. The girls at the club worked so hard organising the event and ended up with 63 lots for auction. The event raised a staggering amount of money, and with Barclays matching up to £750 and Mercers matching up to £300 the club raised a fantastic £2160 for The Lily Foundation and £2160 for Whyteleafe Netball Club. Andy Bushnell-Wye - The New York Marathon - Sunday 1st November 2009Once again we were represented on international streets, when Andy pounded the streets of New York in aid of The Lily Foundation. Andy completed the marathon in an impressive 4 hours and 5 minutes in a truly fantastic atmosphere with the supporters lining the New York City Streets shouting 'Come on Lily' and then taking a second look when Andy ran past! Stephen Osborne - The Chicago Marathon - Sunday 11th October 2009Stephen joined 42,000 others to run in the Chicago Marathon in October. He completed the marathon in a magnificent 3 hours and 26 minutes. A truly amazing time beating his target set at 3 and half hours. Congratulations. City to Coast Bike Ride - Sunday 28th June 2009Once again we had a number of cyclists who set themselves the 60 mile challenge to ride the C2C. This ride includes the grueling Devils Dyke. Well done to Mandy, Jude, Rebecca, Chetana, James, Abby and Charlie. A very special congratulations to Minnie (11) and Martha (9) who joined the race at the half way mark and cycled 30 miles (including Devils Dyke) for the Lily Foundation. Well done girls! |
Warlingham Fair - Blanchman's Farm - Saturday 20th June 2009Thank you to Helen and Graham from the CR6 magazine who for the second year running choose to support the Lily Foundation at this annual event. The CR6 ran a tombola stall raising over £400 for The Lily Foundation. A huge thank you to Jan Jackson. Jan hosted a stall at Warlingham fair selling goods that have been hand crafted by herself and a group of friends. Jan raised an amazing £400 for the Lily Foundation. Thank you to Rowland Brothers (Funeral Directors) who chose to support the Lily Foundation as their local charity at this event, raising just over £100 in the balloon race. |

Football Tournament at Freedom Leisure, Hassocks - Saturday 13th June 2009It was a very hot Saturday and many of you had turned up to play in the first Lily Foundation/Freedom Leisure Football Tournament when a just 'a little' out of shape! To say the least many of you found this a grueling task. But a great day had by all. Thank you to all those who took part, including the referees and congratulations to Al's Fish and Chip Bar for taking the title. We hope that this is the first of many such tournaments. |
Nikki's Pampered Chef Party - Pampered Chef Host Josie Wilkins - Friday 5th June 2009Thank you to Nikki for hosting a pampered chef party with a difference!! The London BUPA 10K - Monday 25th May 2009Well done and thank you to our team of runners who ran the streets of London in the London BUPA 10K. We had an impressive 20 runners in the Lily Team which consisted of Helen, Claire, Nikki, Ross, Simon, Gavin, Kelvin, Daniel, Chris, Jane, Mark, Madeline, Lisa, Olivia, Mark, Bob, Debbie, Lynne and Rachel. Dave Merritt - Ultra Marathon - Saturday 7th February 2009Dave, Lily's dad, ran a 50 mile Ultra Marathon from Reading to Oxford. It was cold and the ground was full of snow.
