Awareness Week

Join us for Mito Awareness Week! 16th – 22nd September 2018

Help us make Global Mitochondrial Awareness Week 2018 the biggest yet. Whether you chose to run, walk, cycle or wheel your way through the week with our “Around The World For Mito” challenge, hold an awareness stand or get busy baking, we can’t thank you enough for your support.

You can make a huge impact during the week whether it be at work, school or within your local community.

Take part in “Around The World For Mito”

The circumference of the World is 24,901 miles or 40,075 Km and we want you to clock up those miles through cycling, walking, running, rowing or swimming to hit this target during awareness week to help us raise much needed funds and awareness!

This is your virtual challenge, your way, anywhere you like - just log your achievements into the totaliser. It’s easy for everyone to get involved, no matter what their age or ability. Why not turn your Sunday stroll into a Sunday hike and really clock up those miles? You could even invite your friends and family to the local park and walk or run 5km and celebrate at the end with a picnic.

Feeling competitive?

Why not get your work or school involved! You could organise your own leadership board with a prize for the team, department or class that does the most miles. You could organise a special sports day event or a walk to school or work campaign, get everyone moving it for mito!

If your friends and family sponsor you just £1 a km, if we hit our target, we could raise a staggering £40,000 which would fund a new research project.

Sign up today and join us and make a difference!

Hold an awareness stand and collection

Awareness is key to our cause and we need people to know and understand what mitochondrial disease is. Why not set up an awareness stand with Lily materials that we will provide and talk to people who have perhaps not heard of mitochondrial disease?

There are lots of places that you can set up a stand such as the high street, train station, or shopping centre. If you are planning to hold a street collection you will need to obtain a licence from the council.

Supermarkets are a great place to hold a collection stand! You will need to speak to the Community Champion or manager of the store and book a date. We can help you with lots of materials for your stand, including bunting, posters, leaflets and awareness pins to sell.

Sign up today and we will arrange to send your awareness stand package to you.

Put the fun into fundraising and do it your way!

Whether at school, home or work, you could get everyone involved in a “Great Mito Bake Off” and raise funds! You could hold a competition for the best decorated cake or the most muffins baked! You could organise a sponsored run, swim or silence. You could have a dress down day or garden party - whatever your ideas and we know you will have lots of amazing and creative ideas register for your fundraising pack today and get started!
